Cake orders- when ordering a cake and sending pictures of an idea for your cake, please keep in mind that I DO NOT do exact replicas. Pictures are for inspiration only. Each cake is its own unique work of art. I will be adding my own twist to a design so that it is not exact to the inspiration picture.
Colors of the cake- I cannot guarantee an exact match to the colors asked for or shown in an inspiration picture. I will try to get as close as I can, but some colors will darken after a few hours after decorating; depending on the color and the gel food coloring that is used to color the buttercream. Although I make every attempt to provide an exact design and to match colors, custom cakes are a work of art. It may not be possible to match an exact shade of a color, but we will come as close as possible. The final product may be subject to slight variations. Also be aware the exposure to light can cause colors to change. I do not offer discounts or refunds if the exact shade of a color is not achieved or if a variation occurs due to lighting. In the event that a major variation needs to be made, I will communicate this to the customer and seek re-design approval.
Cake flavor and texture is subjective. Refunds requested due to flavor or texture after cake has been accepted and picked up will be at the sole discretion of Bake for me Misty Lee LLC.
Cancellations- All cancelations and changes, including design changes are required 7 days prior to the date of pick up (or delivery if it is a wedding cake). Supplies for your order are ordered ahead and some decorations for the cake may need to be made days in advance to dry or design.
Deposit- To book a cake, $50 deposit for party cakes, $100 deposit for wedding cakes. If order is under $50, the order needs to be paid in full unless specified. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. *****Wedding cakes must be paid in full no later than 14 days prior to due date. This ensures that supplies and/or decorations for the cake are ordered and arrive in a timely manner before the cake is due. ****
Refunds- Due to the tedious, handcrafted nature of your cake, i am unable to provide refunds or exchanges for some custom orders. A 50% refund can be issued if proper and timely notice is given. This would be 7 days before party cake is due and 14 days before wedding cake. I book up at lease 30 days ahead, so your deposit not only holds your place on the calendar, but it also covers orders that have to be turned away after your spot is reserved. I am only able to do so many cakes weekly, so a cancelled cake is business lost and other client orders turned down.
Cake Pick up- Cakes are to be picked up at the designated time and place. I always check in for pick up the day before to ensure arrangements are made and enough time given to make sure the cake is picked up in a timely manner. A 15 minute grace period is given after the designated time, after the 15 minutes, you will have to make other arrangements to pick up the cake at another time and place. If a cake is not picked up, no refund will be issued. Cakes can not be resold. I reserve the right to deny service or future cake orders to any customer that does not pick up cakes on time or is troublesome. Please be respectful of my time as i will be of yours.
Once the cake leaves my possession, I am no longer responsible for the cake and any problems with the cake after. When transporting a cake, it should be sat flat, preferably on the floor board or in the rear of the car if you have an SUV. Do not sit cakes in the trunk, on laps or on an unlevel seat of a car. At times I will try to sit them in the car for you if possible and make sure they are level in the seat if at all possible. Cakes should be driven slowly, avoiding sharp turns and sudden stops or bumps. Damage to the cake after pick up can not be fixed. Cake box should be carried with hands under the bottom of the cake. Please do not push in on the sides of the box, this will cause the box to touch the sides of the cake and damage it. Most cakes do not have to be refrigerated. If you choose to refrigerate the cake, cover the open part of the box with plastic wrap securely. This helps the condensation to stay on the outside of the box and plastic and not on the cake. Remove cake to return to room temperature at least one hour before serving.
For wedding cakes, please provide a sturdy table for the cake and a sturdy stand as well. Preferably a strong metal stand with four legs or a flat base. A tall cake on a pillar stand is not recommended.
For left over cake- cake can be wrapped in plastic wrap, preferable double wrapped and into a Ziplock freezer bag or an airtight container. Cake can be refrigerated for 4-5 days if stored properly or cake can be frozen. Remove cake and thaw overnight if frozen.
